How to get sound on Youtube

Youtube sound worked OK wit Mozilla but not with Chrome, so I downloaded
an updated version.  Now I get no sound on either one.  I tried it on IE
but that browser, after opening the home page, will not open any links.
My troubles started  after I installed Windows 7,  64 bit.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

So, are you saying that it won't open any links, or that the sound doesn't work?

If it's just the sound, Youtube changed something recently, and the sound is muted when a clip starts. Just increase the video volume, and it should be fine.
do you have normal system sounds, and you can hear sound from an audio cd?
if not look in device manager for devices with problems - and install all drivers for the laptop or PC? - which is it??

check your local firewall/antivirus as well, also try disabling the plug-ins/add-on.

I have a laptop
Speakers work fine with DVD's and WMF files.
Sound with news broadcasts on Mozilla - but none on Youtube
using Mozilla.
No sound at all on Chrome
Downloaded Adobe flash player per instructions from
Chrome.  Also downloaded Adobe shockwave player
recomended by Chrome.
But have you tried turning the sound up (disabling mute) on the YouTube video as I suggested? And I don't mean the sound on your laptop, I mean the sound control on the video itself.
did you clear your "Cookies", "History" and "Temporary Internet Files"?

if not do so, see here how + other tips :

I removed all cookies, browsing history, temp internet files,  cache files and
recent documents from the computer
I checked  firewall/antivirus, and  temporarily disabled the plug-ins.
I made sure volume was turned up on the Youtube screen.
Videos now play using IE and Mozilla, but not with Chrome.
I have discovered this is a common problem with Chrome - with no
appearent answer from Google.  Therefore, I'm withdrawing the Question.
