CentOS Software RAID

Hi Experts!

I have 2 x 4TB HDD and the latest CentOS DVD installer.

1) How do I install software RAID 1

2) If one HDD fails, how will I know and will there be downtime/outage immediately?

3) Lastly will it auto re-build once I put a new 4TB HDD into the swap.

Will the system boot from a single 4TB hdd?   Most won't.  If your system won't boot from a single 4TB hdd, then it won't boot if that disk is part of a mirror either.

how do you see if it boots on a stand-alone 4TB disk???    You install LINUX and just take the defaults and find out.   Or, if your machine does NOT have a UEFI bios, then no need to do the test.  It won't work.

@hkchris Thanks. How do I know if it has broken as in will it auto email me? A quick note also how do we know physically which disk broke? heh.
