Sysprep before activating with MAK

Hi all. Ive been reading on here about sysprep problems with MAK licence and you can only sysprep 3 times before the rearm stops you syspreping again.
My question is can i sysprep before putting a licence number in? Will this get round the issue so i can update the image now and then, recapture it and deploy via WDS.
I want a master image to deploy but be able to update as and when etc, am i missing something here by not being able to sysprep more than 3 times i am stuck.
I appreciate why Microsoft have done this but doesn't help me and we are fully compliant with over 20000 licences.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

There is no limit to the number of times Sysprep can run on a computer. However, the clock for Windows Product Activation begins its countdown the first time Windows starts. You can use the sysprep /generalize command to reset Windows Product Activation a maximum of three times.

You may capture a non activated machine. Also you can recreate the image fresh from a task sequence. For this you need to enhance your WDS with MDT.
