This is completed at hardware level eg computer or storage controller BIOS.

VMware ESXi server has no software to configure your controller for RAID.

You will need to get into the menu of the storage controller at POST Computer Boot, and configure for RAID array in your Storage Controller BIOS.

This has nothing to do with any OS.

hi hanccocka, i got it. so i will do this in bios configuration, but can you explain about options there. what should i chouse, so on.

Yes, it's completed in the Storage BIOS.

You will need to create a RAID 1, virtual disk, array, logical disk.

Select the disks listed and add them to a RAID 1 array.

Why not create a RAID 10 four disk datastore?

can you not easily identify the disks from the configuration program, as to which is disk 1, disk, 2, disk 3, disk 4.

if not turn off the server, and remove disk 1 and disk 2.

power up the server configure your RAID on disk 3 and disk 4, power down the server, re-add disk 1 and disk 2, and then power on the server.

i need to create this other raid because, i have 2 hard drive mirror and each one is 250gb, and the other 2 hard drive is 1024gb. so, can i have them mirrored like i told above.

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Yes, you would need to build two arrays

First Array - 250GB - RAID 1
Second Array - 1024GB - RAID 1

otherwise if you were to created a RAID 10, you would lose disk space.

ok, i create the arrays, and now when i am copying one virtual machine to the new datastore that i created using the second array 1024gb is going too slow to copy. it will take > 2000minutes to copy 190gb of that virtual machine. what~s going on:
