Word Opens In Edit Only By Default

Hi experts,

I am using Word 2013, which are named .docx by default. I made a Word file, and it opens perfectly, but when I import it into SharePoint to a document library it opens as Edit Only.

This is on Win 7 Pro. Also, when I import the Word document, it gives me several choices, some of which are 2000 -- 2003 and just .doc.  But, there is no .docx.

What is your version of MS SharePoint?

I thought it was 3.0.

But in administration it also says

I couldn't find a way for it to default, but if you highlight it and use the Dropdown arrow, you can select Edit In Microsoft Word.
