Hi JCT,

Please start by telling us the error message from Software Centre: click the Status "Failed" and tell us the error code.

Also need to upload the text logs (not a screenshot) of the logs:

execmgr.log
ccmexec.log

and look for errors (with CMtrace) in

Clientlocation.log
contenttransfermanager.log
locationservices.log

No-one can help without an error code even.
SCCM aside, are you 100% sure that your Office install works and is silent during the install. The method for deploying Office is very specific with OCT.

SUMMARY: To install the software through SCCM (eg: Professional Plus)

1. After you have configured OCT (Refer to "Create a Setup customization file for Office 2010") in
http://technet.micro...y/ff404178.aspx

This is very important step after you have configured OCT:- (Do not skip this)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Copy the config.xml file from "proplus folder" and paste it in the root of source folder "ie in the folder where you have setup.exe"

3. Then configure SCCM for office 2010 deployment. http://technet.micro...y/ff404178.aspx

If you deviate from the instructions it will stall or fail.

Hi,

From the server, please post the ccm.log. Everything so far is pointing to wmi, unless those are old logs files. The errors you sent suggest you would not get as far as seeing the adverts appear even!

Also, there's no need to put the logs into Word. Please just send the actual .log files as they are.

As for Office you need to click on the "failed" link in Software center and tell us the error code or take a screenshot.

Are all your machines seen in the SCCM console, Active and listed as Clients?
It could be worth running system32\wmidiag in the meantime to confirm the client side is 100% happy.

Hi,

The ccm.log is from the server only.
Run WMIdiag.vbs from c:\windows\system32 if it is installed. If not, download from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7684

Hi,

You've sent me the wrong log. ccmsetup.log is the installation log for the SCCM client.
As for wmidiag, you need to run it from a command prompt and run with cscript. So, the command line is:

cscript wmidiag.vbs

thanks,
Mike

Hi,

The ccm.log log shows that SCCM is repeatedly trying to install the agent over and over and failing because it cannot connect to the default admin$ share.

Please check the firewall and the file/printer sharing to make sure you have all the prerequisites.

I repeat an earlier question - is the agent installed fully on the machine?
Does it detect the correct site code?
On the actions tab, are all the components you expect to see visisble? (if the client is broken for whatever reason, you may only see two actions).

Please note the word client means SCCM client, i.e. the agent and NOT the target machine, which people can also refer to as client. Confusing I know, so in need of clarifying.

Given the list of WMI errors in the other log, I suspect WMI is broken which means that SCCM is trying to push the agent out and failing. It will continue trying until you fix it. SCCM first tries it's Computer account, then the Connection account specified in Site aka (Client Push Install account).

SCCM is dependent on two things: WMI adn BITS. If either break it's pretty useless.

Forget wmidiag for now. Instead use the native command to test WMI. So, from a DOS prompt running as admin type:

Winmgmt /verifyrepository

Let us know the result

Hi JCT,

Can you run Winmgmt /verifyrepository on the client, using either the local admin account, or any domain account with admin rights.

The Office error suggests it's not fully unattended - i.e. it's asking for something during the install.

Can you please post the AppEnforce.log from the client. This contains the setup commands that SCCM runs for each deployment.

Can you tell me the exact command line you use in the package?
Also, where is the XML? In the same directory as setup.exe or the proplus folder.

If you use something like setup.exe /config \\servername\Sharename\Proplus\config.xml
that will over-complicate the deployment owing to the server path. SCCM copies the whole "proplus" tree locally to the SCCM cache folder, so does not need to wander off to find a UNC path.

Solution: Simply the path to just
setup.exe /config ..\config.xml
or
setup.exe /config config.xml

Note: that's just a tip. It may or may not be the cause of the error.

Hi,

Appenforce.log from the client pc is attached. I did the Ms.Office 2010 setup using the procedures shown in the below link.

http://prajwaldesai.com/how-to-deploy-microsoft-office-2010-using-sccm-2012/.

I think XML is in the proplus folder.
Please help as today is the last day of working . Friday & Saturday weekends. Next working day will be on Sunday. Please help me in solving the problem today itself.

Hi,

First impressions is the command line is not correct.

Please  follow this great walkthrough by Ronni Pederson.

I know it's the wrong version of Office by the technique is correct: i.e use OCT to create an XML and then create a package in SCCM.

The correct command line will be something like:
setup.exe /config \\servername\Sharename\Proplus\config.xml

The log shows you are running just this:
Setup.exe

This will always fail because eventually it will need user input, and will never get any so will hang. This causes SCCM to timeout after the default 120 mins.

Moral: ALWAYs test the exact command line works manually and make sure the install is 100% silent. If it prompts or asks any questions ever, it's a fail. SCCM cannot deploy it unless it's silent.

hi,

The steps mentioned in Ronni Pederson is for users who have windows 8 & windows 7 installed. I want to install office to selected users for which I created a new group with the name Office 2010 & in this there are few users who wants this application. again when I am deploying to this group its shows failed. If I follow Ronni Pederson's steps then it will deploy either to windows 8 or windows 7. which I don't want.
