Printer not Compatible Win 8.0 Upgrade

Upgraded both desktop and laptop to Win 8 Pro 32bit (desktop), and 64bit (laptop).  Trying to find out if there is a work just dumping a perfectly good piece of hardware. Using an HP Officejet all-in-one 4200 Series, and hard wiring to router.  I will get another printer if that's my only option.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You're not likely to get the all-in-one functionality but the HP Universal Printer driver for both PCL5 and PCL6 works for printing from this.

You might also get some scan functionality too by grabbing a driver via Windows Update

At best though you're going to lose button control for most functions from the OfficeJet device and have to run them from the PC.

It's almost like Microsoft and HP are working together to boost the flagging economy

You were correct.  I can at least use the printer until it crashes and I replace it.  Thx!
