windows 2003 under Ubunitu//Vbox on a Dell T710

Help...

I have been work on this for the past 3 days non-stop.  Since October 4th the server has been very slow to startup. I tried to use the Dell USC via F10 to update the firmware and bios but it gave me a not Dell-authorized updates.  I was able to update the bios but I need to update the firm ware on this system and the drivers for windows 2003.

When I am able to get the system up it takes for ever and I get

System Event Notification      Monitors system events and notifies subscribers to COM+ Event System of these events. If this service is stopped, COM+ Event System subscribers will not receive system event notifications. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.      Starting      Automatic      Local System

DHCP Server      Performs TCP/IP configuration for DHCP clients, including dynamic assignments of IP addresses, specification of the WINS and DNS servers, and connection-specific DNS names. If this service is stopped, the DHCP server will not perform TCP/IP configuration for clients. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.      Stopping      Automatic      Local System

Microsoft Exchange POP3      Provides Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) Services to clients. If this service is stopped, clients are unable to connect to this computer using the POP3 protocol.      Stopping      Automatic      Local System

Windows Time      Maintains date and time synchronization on all clients and servers in the network. If this service is stopped, date and time synchronization will be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

      Stopping      Automatic      Local Service

Once Microsoft Exchange System Attendant load my Information Store will not stay loaded.
I am also not able to log into the desktop or via rdp.

Since I am running on a virtual machine I am going to take my vhd and load them on another machine and see if it comes up.

The Dell T710 update DVD is over 7 gig so it does not fit on a standard dvd... nice.. I would like to find a way to update the firmware and drivers and get this going..

Thanks

looks like this is an DNS issue, where is your DNS server located?

Without DNS, Your AD wont work. Without AD your Exchange wont work.

Have you tried running dcdaig from command prompt on your Server 2003?
Can you confirm network connectivity to the server?
Can you logon locally to the 2003 server?

1) Ubuntu is not supported on this server

p49

2) if the USC is saying there are dell non-authorized updates that means your life cycle controller firmware is too old; it needs to be updated manually first then you can use it to do updates (i had this problem before)

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/poweredge-t710

that will get you to the downloads page then select lifecycle controller but since you are running an unsupported operating system you can't download it.  if you want to have your exchange server virtualized then install ESXi 5.5 since it's supported on that model or even Windows 2008 R2/2012 with hyper-v
