Upgrade NetGear Modem

My IP just upgraded their pipeline from 100mbps to 1000mbps (Fiber Optics).

My modem, a NetGear WNDR 3700, will only run it at about 400.

When I bypass the modem it runs at 950 or so.

Is there anyway to speed up the modem short of replacement?

Do you have a CAT6 cable between them?

Should be fine.  Are you using the standard netgear firmware on the router?  I have the same one at home and use DD-WRT.  Love that firmware.

Otherwise I would say its an issue with the auto-negotiation between the modem and router.  Could try contacting the ISP tech support to dive into the issue.  Or if that modem has a small built in router turn that on and use that instead.

The firmware is  V1.0.7.98NA... but I do remember something about DD-WRT. I think it was with my earlier modem.

My Fiber Optics connection runs directly to the wall via Cat6 cable... all the electronics are outside in a big box.

As I mentioned, if I by-pass the modem I run at just under 1G!
