It depends on how you want to use the monitors, and what video card and outputs you have currently.
Do the monitors you want to use take vga, dvi-a/d/i, hdmi, etc)?

If you just want to clone  (the same thing on two monitors). one of those splitters cables might be enough.
If you want to Extend or Dual View (different things on the monitors), it gets a little trickier.
We need your hardware config (computer make & model, or at least the motherboard) , so we know what to suggest.
Oh yeah, the OS you are running. The setup is the basically same, just how you get to the settings to do it is different.

A real quick and easy way, is to get USB video card(s), and use them, instead.

What is the model of your System?

You will be able to add PCI graphics to your system, but the monitors will need to have dvi or better still you will need to buy converters to convert dvi to vga.

You can use Matrox G200 MMS Quad Display Graphics Card 4 DVI fp, but you need to be aware if it half or full, depending on the architecture of your system.

i only want to use standard vga flat screen monitors is not for gaming just more screens to spread the info out on so there should be some multi vga cards out there so i dont have to use converters on is that right

since you have one pcie slot, you best add the Matrox G200 MMS Quad Display Graphics Card 4 DVI video card to your system  - as said above

however, before doing that - calculate the power youwill need; possibly your PS cannot handle it, calculate here how much power you'll need - and leave a 50 W margin :

you may have missed this qiestion

for example this one its a duel with connectors to convert to vga can you still use the old vga connector on the mother board or does it become redundant and the other card take over giving you 3

Depends on the Bios. Some will let you run the Onboard and Addon together, some it's one OR the other.
