I want to get some certifications under my name - preferably Microsoft as I work on Windows.

Firstly I want to be certified in networking and data communications ( working with routers, ip addresses , TCP IP  ,  WiFi , Network security etc etc ) - is CISCO exams the only thing ?

plus I would like to get certified on Windows server admin

what exams and areas should I look at.

Thanks very much.

You should go for your MSCE and CCNA. The best path to the MCSE is:

Take the four test for Server 2008 and then the two test required to upgrade it to Server 2012. The new forms of the test are much harder so upgrading from Server 2008 to Server 2012 is much easier.

Getting your CCNA and also your MSCE will give you a strong understanding of configuring servers and networks. With those two sets of certs you will be ready to go into the job field and get a medium to high level job quickly.
