Problems Restore Database Backup not enough space

OK so i get this error, I have more then enough space on both my D and L drives, what the heck is happening?

your error message indicates that you need
231452573696 bytes
and you only have
213016182784 bytes on the drive you are trying to restore too

I hate to argue but it looks like insufficient space

that is what i thought but then i looked at the l drive and it had 250 gig avalable on it. does the restore process need extra space equal to or more then the size of the DB.

it is space but we needed to reduce log files before backing up and restoring to another server
