Joomla - CSS and layout issue

I am putting together a new Joomla 3.0 site for our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school.  Right now I am having issues with a 2 things below.  If you could help me out I'd appreciate it.  The website is aznogi.com.
-The logo and address Header Module isn't overlaying the slider.  It has actually forced the slider off to the side slightly.
-The other thing I would like is to put a photo on the sides of the website so it isn't so white.

Thanks in advance!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

1. Increase the z-index on #logo {} - 99 seems to do it

2. Add a background image to your body tag

@garyC123 - Thanks for the reply.  Where are these two config files at?  The background image, would that be in the Template's Index.php?  Thanks for the fast reply.

#logo is line 211 in template.css

body is line 126 in bootstrap.css - but you could just add a new class in template.css
