"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ELMAH is web apps only, and requires access to httpcontext.  It works with IIS at the HttpModule level, and logs exceptions.  As a specialized ASP.NET logger it works really well and has some nice features.

NLog and Log4Net are both general purpose logging libraries, and thus are more directly comparable to each other.  My understanding is that NLog may have an edge on Log4Net in a number of areas including performance and ease of use...  (That said, there's a bit of learning curve for each library.)
