positioning JQuery tabs beside a div element

I'm trying to put a "JQuery tabs" element on the right of a simple div element.

This would seem like a very simple task, however, I haven't been able to achieve it.

Here's the relevant code:

<div style="float:left; margin-right:10px;margin-left:10px;width:200px; text-align:right;">

...some more code here, this is the div that goes on the left

and here is the tabs element:

<div id="tabs">
	<ul class="tabs">
		<li><a href="./Vacantes/listaVacantes.jsp?tabNo=1">Lista de Vacantes</a></li>
		<li><a href="./Vacantes/listaVacantes.jsp?tabNo=2">Mis Vacantes</a></li>

Open in new window

The problem is that the tabs element gets deformed, the title gets the size of the div on the left and it is above it also (see tabAbove.jpg image attached)

I've tried doing this also, adding this css properties to the tab element, but is not good either because the tab apper on the most right of the screen (see tabRight.jpg image attached), and all I need is to appear next to the first div, like if it was 2 cells of a traditional html table.

#tabs {
float: right;
width: 700px;

Open in new window

I've tried using a traditional html table, which kind of works but the tabs are not displayed correctly.

Any help will be appreciated

OK, I've already solved it.

I forgot about absolut positioning.

All I did was include this:

position:absolute; left:245px;

Open in new window

And now is displayed correctly where it should go.
