Going from remote desktop to Citrix
I currently have a site that uses remote desktop (TERMINAL SERVICES) on a server 2008 platform, they have 3 main sites connecting in and various remote users, I want to trial citrix and see how it performs, what's the best solution to use on trial basis?

You know that Citrix will run on top of RDS. What you could do with Citrix is publish applications, Citrix policies for mapping, etc.
What I would do is install Citrix on a Win2K8 RD Server. I would perform following tests:
1. Test ICA vs. RDP and see if you see any difference
2. Try Citrix policies for items such as printer mappings, etc.
Depending on the Citrix edition/version, you could try items such as Application Isolation, Resource Manager, deployment features, etc.
