network issues

Hi,

what is wrong with network if sometimes you need to renew the ip addresses on our desktop computers? Like for example, our Outlook displayed disconnected and I need to restart the PC or use ipconfig /renew to back up and running again. Thanks

First try checking your DHCP server's Lease Time, change it longer if the current value is less than 1 day or 1440 minutes.

Are you running out of the number of DHCP leases available? That is, DHCP is set for 50 users and you have 55.

Also are you sure that you have ONLY one DHCP server active on the network? Not got a new device plugged in that is ALSO giving dhcp leases in the same range as existing ones?

Agree. If you saw some other IP addresses were obtained, you had multiple DHCP servers in place, which should not happen.
