Vista to windows 8 easy transfer

I have been making myself migrate to windows 8. I purchased a new laptop, upgraded to windows 8 Pro. My current workstation is Vista home premium (I know).

Using windows easy transfer I am having issues migrating to the laptop. I downloaded easy transfer to the desktop (vista) and run the tool. I have tried network/Transfer cable. I either get a message that it can't create user accounts or that it has an error transferring the data.

I am currently attempting using the hard drive, but that failed once already. Does anyone have a good alternative for windows easy transfer? Or know why this is being a pain?

Oddly enough when I tried it again with changing my username on the old computer I still got errors. Out of frustration I just clicked on the file easy transfer generated on my external hard drive and it worked. At least for my primary account.

I still get errors about creating accounts, but will figure that out a bit later.
Glad you could intitate the process. Thanks for the grade. Good luck.
