Companyweb produces error 404 after Microsoft Security updates.

After performing security updates from Microsoft; the Companyweb (which was working) stopped working and produced error 404. RWW and OWA are working fine.  I don't know what caused it but I have attached the updates that were installed prior to the failure.  Anyone have any ideas about this or how to recover the Companyweb.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Please confirm -- The companyweb is a sharepoint webserver?  Or does this server host multiple web applications, and Sharepoint is just one of them?  IF that's the case, I'm wondering about the MS13-067 (kb2760420) patch for Sharepoint 3.0.  We haven't had a problem with it, but it might be worth escalating to add the Sharepoint zones to the question.

In the meantime, to collect additional information: The World Wide Web Service (IIS) is running right?  Assuming it is, are any pages being returned correctly?  Can you connect to the Sharepoint Administration webpage?

The world Wide Web service is running along with all other elements that would normally impact the Companyweb, and yes the companyweb is a Sharepoint webserver.  Also, I can connect to the Sharepoint Administration page.

My feels are that it has something to do with MS13-067.

I do see one Microsoft Support ticket that may apply in this case.  Check the Windows Application log for an event 6800 coming from Windows SharePoint Services 3, etc... (complete error messages in the microsoft support article.)  It indicates that the problem occurs after applying a public update, which obviously happened here, and it lists a cause of "the SPWebService service has not been fully provisioned", and gives instructions on how to provision.

Do you have see Sharepoint errors in the Application log though?

I resolved the problem by installing a second SharePoint update.  Restarted the server and confirmed all services were working properly
