=> syntax in ruby

Why would you want to use => in ruby/rails? I've seen this but not sure what it means. like :title => "blue"

It's a shortcut (IMHO a nice one) for something like

- Pseudo Code not actual Ruby
hashTable.put("title", "blue")

However you can write this instread

hashTable["title"] = blue
Or { title : blue}
