I found an old address book with email addresses.  Do those addresses still exist or have they been converted to

I tried sending emails but I got a hard bounce saying address does not exist.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The MX records for do indeed point at AOL's servers, so mail that you send to addresses do actually go to a server that AOL controls.

But there's no telling how much has changed on those servers, whether they're accepting mail for this old domain name, or how many of their old accounts they've pruned and deleted due to inactivity. Chances are, most of your old highschool netscape contacts are no longer valid accounts on AOL and emails sent to them will bounce.
