Intermittent Classic ASP Error ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cc1'

Im getting the following error when I browse to a page:

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cc1'
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal

The page loads up a report using a Stored procedure. The odd thing here is its intermittent. An example is I browsed to the page today and I had the error, I browsed to it yesterday and no signs of the error.
Nothing has been changed the DB is standalone and no jobs are running

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you paste the rest of the error code along with the asp/html code for the page along with the code for your stored procedure.

It's missing something.  We just need to see what.

this error appears when you're trying to reference a field from your query that doesn't exist. I suspect that maybe you're reading from a RS in an IF statement and only when a particular condition is true do you get this error:

if condition = 1 then
     var1 = rs("fld1")         '-- this works
     var1 = rs("fld4")         '-- this fails
end if

but as padas suggested, seeing some code would help :)
