Set up HTTP 301 pages where the old pages used to be.  Point them to where the pages are now.

Ok im not sure that will work let me just explain this and maybe you could answer

on our website we have a Flash Video that when played users can click on certain pictures and that then takes them to another URL, theses urls are embedded in the Flash video I we cannot get access to them to change them so at the moment on of the link goes to

http://domain.com/index.php/training_3_Safety.htm

but I need anything going to that link to actually go to

http://domain.com/index.php/rf-safety-awareness-tutorial-safety-guidelines

Right.  So you have a page called training_3_Safety.htm.  Backup or rename that page so you don't lose it.  Once you have a copy of it, edit the page so the only thing inside it is:

<?
Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Header( "Location: http://domain.com/index.php/rf-safety-awareness-tutorial-safety-guidelines" );
?>

(I presume this will work for you, as it looks as if you're running PHP)

Now anyone going to...
     http://domain.com/index.php/training_3_Safety.htm
...should be redirected to...
     http://domain.com/index.php/rf-safety-awareness-tutorial-safety-guidelines

ok I have done that with no success

we are using php for the main site but the files that the flash file is referring to are .htm files

im not sure if that makes a difference

Edit training_3_Safety.htm so the only thing inside it is:

<html>
  <head>
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://domain.com/index.php/rf-safety-awareness-tutorial-safety-guidelines">
  </head>
  <body>
  </body>
</html>

...replacing domain.com as appropriate.

Right im not sure if this makes sense but the reason I don't think that it is working is because its not even hitting the .htm file, and the reason for this I think is because, the way the site has been built in joomla it automatically adds /index.php to the end of the domain name.

does that help
