I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are many products that can do this. A popular one is Acronis, which I used previously...it's a fine product, but now I prefer Casper for cloning:

I run it every evening in the wee hours to clone my entire hard drive. It has an intelligent cloning mechanism so that it copies only the necessary tracks. The first run takes a while, but after that, it's extremely fast. It can clone to the same size drive or to a larger one or even to a smaller one, as long as there is enough space on the smaller one to house the used (non-free) space from the larger one. It's not free, but it's reasonably priced and worth every penny. Regards, Joe

My preference is Paragon Migrate OS to SSD, worth the $20 many times over for me. Very quick, should clone your drive in about an hour.

By the way, your new SSD might come with some cloning or backup software. Avoid these.

If you want free, try EaseUS Disk Copy, it is just fine for one-off clones if you have some time.

Thanks again everyone.  I used the Paragon to clone a HDD to SDD and it worked beautifully.  I will try the Casper for the periodic backup.
Best regards,
Steve
