Find out about MAC version

I have the following MAC version:
Software  OS X 10.8 (12A269)

when I look it up on google it sounds like it is Mountain Lion, but cannot see it on MAC itself.

How do I know if it is Mountain Lion or Leopard?

Thank you

If you are looking to update your system, click on 'Software Update' on the dropdown menu from the Apple symbol in the upper left corner of your screen.  That will install the latest version that is available for your machine.

is this the latest version
OS X Mountain Lion       Build 12A269

or this:
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4      Build 12E55

The last one is the 10.8.5 but the 10.8.4 was the previous one.

In your case is the first version OS X Mountain Lion       Build 12A269.
