PC not assuming correct subnet

We have this CISCO ROUTER e2500 for our home network using the routers settings for DHCP starting at 192.168.1.100.

This is a link to the router description http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/linksys-e2500-multiple-user/4505-3319_7-34535355.html.

My laptop is Windows 8 and continues to reconnect on a different IP and subnet 192.168.?.? instead of 192.168.1.?  This generally means no internet despite the fact that it is connecting to my wireless settings.  What might I be missing?

Few questions...

1) Provide output of 'ipconfig /all' from your Windows 8 laptop
2) What is the ip of the router?

Once you get the ipconfig/all from the laptop check the DHCP section - does it match the ip of your router? If not you've a second router/device on your network that is doing DHCP...

I set up a wireless router as follows:

1. Hook up a LAN port on the wireless router to a LAN port on the main network.
2. Log into the wireless router and give it a static IP on the main network. Probably something like 192.168.1.11 or something like that.
3. Turn DHCP OFF on the wireless router.

Now it will give you an IP from the main network AND give you internet as well.

I forgot about roku.

That must be serving as DHCP.  Now I just need the IP of the ROKU.

What is ROKU?   The IP config of your workstation does not help much, so let us just deal with routers and go from there.

This little device here http://www.roku.com/ serves as a wireless router and must serve also as a dhcp server.  I'm not sure but I think that's what is wrong but I am trying to find the notes on it so that I can find the ip address of the configuration page and login to it to disable DHCP.

It is plugged into my cisco device but I never thought to disable it as a wireless device.

You can only have one DHCP server in a home network (unless you desire complication and a bit of a mess).

So either:

1. Figure out how to disable DHCP on ROKU,  or

2. Figure out how to disable  DHCP on everything else.

Make your ROKU the main router if need be.
