Downloading Java for Workstation

Simple question - I've been trying to download Java from the Java site for the past two days.  As you click through to the final destination your end up with "Web page not available" or some other similar failure.

I've tried on two different networks and multiple PCs since I find it suspicious that something so "globally popular" would stay down for 2 days but I still cannot download.  Are there any other "safe"  avenues for downloading the latest Java for Windows 8 64 bit clients?

Thanks for any advice.

My attempts have been from:  http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try downloading the manual installer (from java.com):
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Also read the notices on that website regarding:
1. How Java works in desktop mode with Windows 8
2. How to remove OLD versions of Java (installing the newest version does not automatically remove the previous version)

The link you provided appears to work for me.  I use the Java link below for downloading the full installer:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.html

I have JRE 7 V40 32-bit working just fine on my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. I use the desktop setup (not Metro), and I continue to recommend 32-bit Java even on 64-bit machines.

Thanks
For whatever reason I have no success using any of the links that are on the page at:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

That was the first place that I tried - not sure why others find this page functional but I was able to use the alternative links provided by Thinkpads_User - exactly what I was looking for.  Thank you both for the response

@jrgillard  - As you noted above, the standard authorized Java link I provided works. It is hard to imagine that there would be a better link than the known authorized link.

Nonetheless, you did not provide the "better" link, and so have not provided a solution. Accordingly this question must be deleted.
