Windows 7 System Restore Point - Clarifications

I am trying to revert my system to an earlier restore point. When the description in system restore window says 'Windows Update', I was wondering is it a restore point created before starting the Windows Update or after that? For example, today I updated my OS. I am not sure if the last restore point is the one created after updating the OS or before that.

After the update has downloaded and before it was installed. The installer creates a restore point first then the update is applied.
You should see a small, short text message "Creating a Restore Point" after the Downloads have occurred but before the installation takes place.
The "Description" column in the System Restore window will say Windows Update.  That System Restore point was created before the Update was installed.  That is the case for all System Restore points.  The Restore Point is created before whatever activity is in the Description window , so that using that RP nullifies that activity (and all subsequent activities).
Note I said "nullify".  You have not Deleted those files.  I am sure you know that you can Restore the files and condition before you used a given Restore Point.

FWIW--You may have more Restore Points than  you think.  Click the box "Show more Restore Points" at bottom left.
