Default document no longer recognized after updating .NET from 2.x to 4.0

I just upgraded my web server's .NET framework from 2.x to 4.0 and now none of the websites defined on that web server recognize a default document.

Any attempt to visit a site purely by its site name, without explicitly specifying the page name (such as index.aspx) results in the following message:
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /eurl.axd/4eb02f017f0f2e46abc4363cdbf98865/

Any thoughts on what may have happened?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

I think both the Default Documents and Directory Browsing is disabled, and hence you are receiving the 404 error!

You can check this MSDN article on how to enable Default Documents in IIS7 - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753615(v=ws.10).aspx

Hope it helps u...

Neither my Default Documents or Directory Browsing are disabled, they are both enabled and a default document is specified. They were always there before the upgrade to .Net 4.0

I am using IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 by the way.
