Replacing the DVD rom from a Toshiba - PSCG7E-00900DEN is it a seperate part of the Laptop ?

Is this a separate part of the laptop as you would expect or an integral part ?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Usually devices like the DVD are separate units (i.e. a single assembly).  Getting to it may be fun, depending on the layout of the system, how many screws, cables are in the way, etc.
