Windows live mail

My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit and I use Outlook 2007.  My email is MSN the free version.  I am thinking of installing Windows live Mail and exporting everything from Outlook 2007 to WLM.  Can the Experts please point me in the right direction where I can have a step by step guidance on how to install WLM and also where to download the software.  Thank u.

I have Windows Live Mail on my Windows 7 Desktop and I find it prone to "Stop working". The frequency increases as you use it more. It also lacks the features of Outlook. It has mail and contacts but lacks a calendar (at least my version lacks a calendar).

On the Windows 7 machine I use Outlook 2010 and on my Windows 8 machine I use Outlook 2013.

I recall you might have tried Outlook 2010 and went back to Outlook 2007.

I have used all 3 versions as POP3 clients and I think you are using IMAP which is why I have not responded to your IMAP questions. I do not use IMAP.

I think (but I am not certain) you can import from a PST file to Windows Live Mail. Backup your PST file securely and try the Import function in Windows Live Mail.

@jegajothy  - I must retract my last statement above. On looking around, there does not appear to be any way to get from Outlook to Windows Live Mail. WLM only imports from Outlook Express email.  Sorry.

In response to Thinkpads_User, thank u for responding.  I have always saved the pst files in my HD and also backed up to an external source to be doubly sure, so I think I will try the WLM route, as I am getting plain tired of outlook as it stops working after so many months or so, and then I have to restart the process all over again.

The reason why I was stuck with Outlook for so long was because of my familiarity, and secondly my Contact management software, ACT for Sage 2013, supports the 2007 version only, but it looks like it is evident that I have to rethink and make that bold change, and try others out there.  I can live without the calendar and also the others, just the simple email that will allow me to file them in separate folders should be sufficient.  Thank u.
