moving mailbox role from an exisiting exchnage 2010 single server to another server

I have a single ex2010 server setup with all the roles and a black berry server in an virtual environment with VM. Now I want to move the mailbox role to another new virtual server. My current server has SSL cert from Digicert, and installed with Symantec Mail security for exchange 2010.  What all are the required precautions I have to take care off? and what are the required steps I have to follow? Has some one done a similar move the current situation I have?

A prompt answer is appreciated.

Hi,

Please follow below steps:

1.Install Exchange 2010 on new server
2.Create a Ptr record for new server in DNS
3.Move mailboxes to new server

Note:If current server is having CAS role  then no need to make changes on Certificate & Symantec mailsecurity

Thanks,
Ash

Will the existing users' outlook needs any changes? Once moved the mailbox role, do I need to change any settings for the existing outlook users? Will the move affects the existing Mobile users, black berry users and those who's outlook configured with RPC over http?

As you are not changing the CAS role you wont need any changes in outlook  also Mobile users  RPC over http users  connect to CAS server so it wont get affetced

Please also run below command to check RPC binding  after mailbox movement

Get-mailboxdatabase | fl name, *RPC

Appreciate your quick answers and sorry for the late reply. Two more last questions;

Do I need to make any changes in the black berry server? We are running on BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express version 5.0 SP3.

I forgot to mention that our MX records are configured on 2 Symantec Bright Mail security appliances. Do I need to make any changes in these?

As you are moving mailboxes to same version Exchange 2010 server no changes required in Blackberry server

Also as i believe you Mx records should be mapped to your CAS server so no changes there aswell
