I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Based on that sample, perhaps:

=COUNT(1/SEARCH(CHAR(ROW(INDIRECT("128:255"))),A1:A9))

array-entered (with Ctrl+Shift+Enter). Adjust the A1:A9 range to suit.

Hi,

pls try this UDF in an helper's column

Function fIsAsciiGreaterThan127(strText As String) As Integer

fIsAsciiGreaterThan127 = 0

For Idx = 1 To Len(strText)
    ch = Mid(strText, Idx, 1)
    If Asc(ch) > 127 Then
        fIsAsciiGreaterThan127 = 1
    End If
Next

End Function

Please ignore my previous suggestion - I forgot that CHAR doesn't always create the same character that is returned by CODE!
