Unable to find this VDP in the vCenter inventory.

Unable to complete VDP configuration.  Fails at vCenter Registration Stage with error: Unable to find this VDP in the vCenter Inventory.

Setup:

VMWare VDP Appliance 5.5 on vCenter Appliance 5.1 on SLES 11.

Deployed the VDP ova in vCenter.  Network, time, hostname, dns are all configured.  Verified that DNS resolves for vCenter and VDP forward/reverse.  Can Ping the VCapp from the VDPapp and vice-versa.

At the vCenter Registration page, while on the :8543/vdp-configure web console,

An appropriate domain admin account is used for vCenter Username, along with a correct pw. (this account is a member of the domain vmware admins group, which is added to VC w/ Administrator permissions).

Permissions set at the top level in VC are: (all permissions set to, and do, propagate to child objects, including the VC and VDP apps)

SYSTEM-DOMAIN\admin = Administrator
Domain\vmware admin group = Administrator
root = Administrator
System-Domain\_Administrators_ = Administrator

I have used both, the IP and FQDN of the VC, along w/ 443 as the VC port.  I have tried w/ and w/o the VC SSO checkbox and default settings.

Whenever I test connection, I get the following error: Unable to find this VDP in the vCenter Inventory.

I have rebooted the VC and VDP appliances.  Because I have not completed the setup yet, the VDP appliance does not show up in the VC Web Client to manage yet.

I have reviewed a thread about a similar issue, but the thread was hijacked and turned into a different topic, so It wasn't much help.

From what I've found from google research, most results have pointed towards credential mismatch and authentication issues, rather than the unable to find in inventory error that I have.

Any feedback or guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
