Admin Login Blank Page in Wordpress on Local development

I am unable to see the admin login and access the wordpress dashboard on my local host.  I can't find the  htaccess file either, I'm not sure where the file should be located.  Not seeing it in search on my mac.

I'm guessing this is why it is not working on my local host.  Everything is fine in production.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I found the htaccess file , I think it is the same that is on the production, so problem may be elsewhere.

Here is the contents of the file:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

# END WordPress

when you set up the local host did you update the db with the new url reference?
how did you do it?

I set that up in wp-config, but it was originally working just fine in the local host.

Are you using MAMP as web server?

Are you able to see the WP home page?

Do you get any error message?

Make sure the web service (php, MySQL ..) are running (MAMP or other).

Check if the port is available.

I am using MAMP as a webserver, and I am able to see the wp home page, I do not get any error messages.

When I call localhost/wp-admin, the screen is completely blank

what is the local url ?
is your installation is into a folder or directly into htdocs

let say
htdocs/mywpproject/
or all file are into
htdoc/

if it's under htdocs/mywpproject/
the url to access the admin area will be
localhost/mywpproject/wp-admin/
not localhost/wp-admin/
