Firefox keeps popping up "What should firefox do with this file"

Is there a way to bypass this screen and have Firefox just open the file without asking? I tried changing the settings in "applications" and also tried disabling the Adobe Plug-In so it opens up in Adobe Reader but was still getting same message.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Clear the cache and the cookies. Remove any add ons. And try again.

Also, boot up in safe mode with networking. Does the problem happen here also?

aadih this did not solve the issue. I did both booting to safe mode and clearing cache, and cookie.

If you can open other PDFs on the web, then that site is probably not sending the correct Content Type headers.  I have several sites that do that because they are not sending the proper content headers.  If that is the case, you can't fix it because it isn't your computer that is causing it.

All files coming from a web server are supposed to have 'headers' that tell what type of file it is.  The browser uses that information to decide what to do with the file.  If the Content Type header is missing or not recognized because it isn't an accepted version, then you will get that message every time.
