Yahoo POP3 email

Am I interpreting the Yahoo situation correctly...must one subscribe to Yahoo Plus at $50/yr in order to access mail via Outlook and POP?

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, you are interpreting it correctly.  That is what you must do for Outlook POP3 to access it.

Or have an AT&T email address which comes with their DSL service.  It's called Yahoo Ad Free Mail now.

DaveBaldwin, I thought you had hit on the answer, but when I go to that link, it shows that Standard Yahoo mail accounts "before" couldn't do POP mail, but now they can. My client's email is a xxx@yahoo.com. I assume that is standard mail? If so, I should be able to POP it, but I cannot get to the control that allows me to enable POP mail.

Well, I got to the page it says in the link above but that option isn't there.  So I don't know what to tell you.

Is your customer (or are you) on an ATT network?  That was not clear. You have to be on an ATT network for POP3 to work with ATT Yahoo mail.

Yes they are on ATT. However, I can't get the POP enabled. One of them has a straight yahoo account...perhaps it pre-dated the ATT account. The other has an sbcglobal.net account; I haven't tried the POP thing on that yet.

The sbcglobal.net account shouldn't be a problem but the setup is similar.  http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB401570&cv=801&_requestid=138425#fbid=i0-NT4-d932
