I need to have a website available to external users and autheticate the website through active directory which is on the lan. I am not very competent with IIS and would love some ideas on how to accomplish this task.

I need to have a website available to external users and autheticate the website through active directory which is on the lan. I am not very competent with IIS and would love some ideas on how to accomplish this task.

Authenticate external web server using internal AD

The Windows operating systems have distinct methodologies for designing and implementing networks, and have specific systems to accomplish various networking processes, such as Exchange for email, Sharepoint for shared files and programs, and IIS for delivery of web pages. Microsoft also produces server technologies for networked database use, security and virtualization.

The primary function of a web server is to store, process and deliver web pages to clients. The communication between client and server takes place using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The most common use of web servers is to host websites, but there are other uses such as gaming, data storage, running enterprise applications, handling email, FTP, etc.
