Internet Explorer 10 - issues with security certificates

I have a Windows 7 computer the IE 10 - I am constantly getting a message when browsing to certain sites:  "There is a problem with this website's security certificate"  - if I click continue I still cannot get to the website.  Please advise how I can correct this issue.  Also, how do I change the setting in IE so that it does not automatically update to these new versions that cause issues?

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,

If you wanted you can scale back to IE9 by opening the control panel > Programs and Features > View Installed Updates (left hand side) > Find IE10 and remove.

Once it is removed and you go to check for updates, make sure IE10 is deselected and you can right-click the update and choose hide
