Outlook 2013 - Will not connect to Exchange 2010 over VPN

Trying to connect a new install of Outlook 2013 to an Exchange 2010 server over VPN. As soon as a new profile is set up and click on "Check name" immediately get "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

This is a machine outside of the office and not on the domain. Can ping the server by name, can connect with Outlook 2003 or 2010 without an issue. Do not have a 3rd party SSL certificate.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Create a new Outlook profile from the Control Panel, set the new profile as default and then try to open Outlook and check if it works fine.
Refer the link mentioned below on how to create a new profile:

Did that....in looking at the server security logs it was trying to log in as the guest. Disabled the guest account in AD and then the Outlook 2013 machine prompted for credentials and connected.

No idea why the guest account was enabled.
