Need some comment or suggestion for simple Citrix VDI deployment diagram

Hi Folks,

I need your comments in regards to the simple deployment diagram before the implementation to server for around 60 remote users maximum persistent desktop VM (not the whole company).

The initial goal is to utilize XD7 + XenApp to enable users ability to work in case the main office is having problem or in DR situation (eg. natural disaster or something else)

The XenDesktop WIndows Server VM will be beefed up as follows:
4x vCPU
Hosted on VMFS datastore RAID 10 (FC-SAN 15k rpm)
no SSD or EFD implementation at the moment

Any kind of comments and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I am not an expert in the architecture level. Just got a doubt. Are you planning to have any Citrix Access gateway in DMZ-E. We have our environment with Citrix Access gateway configured in the DMZ-E.

Also, since you are saying, most would be Persistent, do you still need Xenapp here.

XD7 will take care of application virtualization also.

In the diagram, you did not mention about the location of Vcenter server

Note: if you find any correction with the above points, please reply back as a feedback.

Kabila, yes I forgot the VCenter it is already exist but not drawn :-)

Does XenApp is only useful for the non persistent VM scenario ?

At the moment there is no budget left to buy another hardware, so I guess I will reuse the existing Juniper SSL VPN gateway appliance. Does it supports StoreFront server role ?

sarmahjay, thanks for the documentation, so in this case do I missed any server roles that I must include into the diagram ?
Xenapp can be used in 2 scenarios.
1. For Non-persistent VM environment
2. For secured application access

Anyways your persistent VDI is similar to your PC and your changes are saved in the vDisk. Hence going for a Xenapp separately should have a business case of Secured application access. It is upto your Management decision.

yes, Xendesktop 7 supports storefront also. The below link is for XD7 handbook, that was released y'day.

Cool, because I was under the impression that XenDesktop 7 PVS role deploys persistent VM only.
XenDesktop 7 VDI edition or XenApp7 Delivery Controller Streams Virtualized Apps into the VMs deployed by PVS or MCS role as well as Stream the Application to the non persistent VM (like windows terminal server)
