Excel Name Manager Clean Up

I have a WB that I have had for some time now and it has evolved quite nicely.   However, in all of the adds (WSs and code) and deletes, when I go to "Name Manager" I realize that I have many names now that are no longer valid or have #REF next to them.  What assumption may I use in deleting or cleaning up the long list of what I believe to be invalid Names that now reside in my Name Manager?  All of my macros, WSs and calculations seem to work..... is there a way to make sure I don't screw up by deleting something important?

Thank you,

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is no easy way to tell if something has a dependent which will impact down stream.
When I see many unrully names in the list I tend to go by the rule that if it has #REF then it wouldn't work anyway, so delete it.

Other than that there is little else other than saving the file before changing it and taking the plunge to see what deleting others do.
