How is price determined for UCCX?  Is it per seat?  How much approximately before discount?  

Can UCCX run on VM in UCS?

Does call recording come included with UCCX?

UCCX can run as a virtual instance on a Cisco UCS C-Series virtual platform / server.  It can also run on VM Ware 4.0. 4.1, 5.0, and 5.1 (although specific SU are needed for the different versions).

Agent activated call recording (per call) can be accomplished through the Unity (voice mail) platform, but UCCX does not come with a "no-cost" call recording feature.  Most UCCX users prefer a third party recording application (such as Calabrio or Nice), which are more complete offerings and can include options such as screen capture, speech analytics, etc.

List price for the per-agent software RTU was $1850 for the premium add-on; see the line items below (from a bid we had earlier this year):

Great - thank you.  If you don't mind a follow up: Is the licensing for max concurrent users or does each and every person who might log into the system require a non-discounted $2,203 in licensing?

Can be either.  From the Cisco documentation:
Licensing
 
Licensing for Cisco Unified Contact Center Express 8.5 varies by feature, as indicated by Table 3. Licenses are either concurrent or named user licenses. All packaging is per user with the exception of the Inbound Voice High Availability server software option.
 
Concurrent licensing example: Customer has three shifts each of 100 users for a total of 300 unique users. Customer needs to purchase 100 licenses.
 
Named user licensing example: Customer has three shifts of 100 users for a total of 300 unique users. Customer needs to purchase 300 licenses.
 
If you want call recording, quality management, or workforce management, you need named user licensing.  If you can do without those features, you can use concurrent.  See page 12 of the attached.

BTW, in double checking facts, the Cisco 8.x upgrade to Express improved the call recording feature so that it is not as basic as it used to be.  Only available with the Enhanced or Premium version and no speech analytics.  But it is more acceptable than the old agent activated only stuff.   See page 24.  I do not have pricing info, though.
