software that hides the screenshot writings

I need a software that hides some writings on the screenshots.
it would be better if it hides the original writings and will let me write over it.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

SnagIt will allow you to blank out text and write over it. I use SnagIt to post here to blank out information not public.  SnagIt is at techsmith.com and is an excellent tool and not expensive.

Windows 7 has a slimmed down version of this built in. Have you tried it?

Nonetheless I much prefer SnagIt. The features you want come with SnagIt and SnagIt Editor.

Try it out (it is free after all), but SnagIt is more flexible.  I made an image here for you to see.

It depends on what you mean by "hides some writings". You can use the Snipping Tool to capture just a portion of the screen, thereby hiding some other portions. For example, here I've used the Snipping Tool to capture just your question and hide everything else:
Snipping Tool captureOnce it is captured in the Snipping Tool, you can save it as an image file, such as a PNG or JPG. Then you can use the built-in Paint applet to write text on it. For example, here I've written a comment on it with Arial 10-point bold red text in Paint and saved it to a new file (JPG):

Snagit is not free. Here is the link to it:
http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.html

It has a free, 30-day trial:
http://www.techsmith.com/download/snagit/

But after the trial, you must purchase it:
https://store.techsmith.com/order/snagit.asp

The Snipping Tool is free and built into W7. The Paint tool is free, also built into W7. If you want more flexibility in editing the image and writing on it than Paint provides, an excellent (free!) tool is IrfanView:
http://www.irfanview.com/

Click the Download link on the left to download IrfanView and click the PlugIns link on the left to download the PlugIns, which are needed to give you PDF capability (it's optional...only if you want PDF support...and the other features that come with the PlugIns). Install IrfanView first, then install the PlugIns (again, it's optional, but I think it's a good idea). Regards, Joe

windows snipping too and Paint brush free, will do half of the job.

you can take screenshot and hide the writings, but if you try to write over it you will have to use paintbrush pen...which is not easy to write with.

Have you tried IrfanView, as I mentioned before? As I said above, it is free, and it has more flexibility in editing the image and writing on it than Paint does. Regards, Joe
