sonicwall users

tz180 wireless enhanced sonic wall device has a limit of 25 users/nodes under the security section.  how do we increase that number?  it is a public venue that often more than 25 people are trying to be online via wifi on their phones (fantasy football etc) and it stops allowing after 25 :-(
thanks

You can buy an upgrade to unlimited nodes, however...a TZ180 is old news.  It is a better investment to ditch it and go with a newer version that doesnt keep a node count.
Upgrade (shop this around)

New SonicWall (or other router) is the better bet.

ok I see, it is an upgrade thing.  didn't know if it was just a setting thing.  we don't subscribe to any of the sonic wall services so perhaps just a new wireless router would suffice?  we have a point of sale system behind this wall and then use the wifi part for public usage.  any router suggestions?  thanks again :-)

Hi StewartGilligan,

I'd recommend upgrading your unit to a TZ 105 W http://www.sonicwall.com/us/en/products/TZ_105.html. It will consolidate your gear meaning you won't need a router or WAP (Wireless Access Point) - everything can be handled in the device itself. If you need more coverage you can get a Wireless Extender but the coverage is much great in the TZ105 series than the TZ 180. Not sure what your purpose is for the router. If you want to elaborate on that I can recommend something for you.

Here are the reasons you should consider upgrading to a TZ 105 W:
Unlimited Nodes
Considerable Performance Increases
Considerable Security Increases
Considerable WiFi Throughput & Range Increases
The TZ180 is in ARM (Active Retirement Mode) and nearing EOL (End of Life on 6/30/2013 unless you purchased the last 1-year of support before this date), there is no more support for this device regardless of what happens to it
NGFW (Next Generation Firewall) - this means it has the security to handle today's ever evolving threats where your TZ 180 just doesn't
It's Less Expensive to buy a TZ 105 then to purchase the Node Upgrade for the TZ 180

The TZ 105 starts at $495.00, whereas the Node Upgrade for your TZ 180 regular price is at $520.00 (I know there is a sale for $442.00 but who knows how long that will last). It would be throwing good money after bad.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I would agree with diverseit in this instance. The TZ-180 had served its purpose, and it would be completely pointless to try upgrading a retired product at this point in time.
