How To Remove YouTube Advertising On The Right Margin

Hi

I am starting to use YouTube for the first time via Internet Explorer. I was prompted to click "something" before using it & i clicked "yes". After i had clicked "yes" a small YouTube icon on the right started appearing "Meet the man sending my fat: Bunnies can fly.....Proof"

How can i revert to the prior state please??

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

shaunwingin--Run a System Restore to a time before this happened.
If you again see "something" do not click it.

It looks like you are in the middle of a video edit.. the previews on the right are simply google/youtube suggestions.

Just a guess.  Use the HOSTS file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

To add sites manually to the HOSTS file, right click on a "suggestion" then Properties.  See what is in the Address (URL) line, copy from www. thru the .com and add that to HOSTS as described in the above link.

Sounds rather complicated... and not automated... Is there not a setting within Youtube?

shaunwingin--I do not know.  I would doubt it.  YouTube (owned by Google) makes money from the ads.

Using HOSTS is not complicated, and is automatic once you set it up.

shaunwingin--Look at the list of sites in the HOSTS file--either those put there by HOSTS.zip or manually by you.   Try to access one or more.  Can you?
