Symantec Endpoint protection can't install in Win 2012 DC x64

We obtained the following Syman Endpt Protection executable
from our subscription-based login to Symantec.

When uploaded to my VMs running Win2012 DC x64, it gave the
following error regardless of whether I tried to run it using
local administrator or a domain adid:

10/17/2013    11:11 AM     282,841,200 Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.3_Win64
-bit_Client_EN.exe
               1 File(s)    282,841,200 bytes
               2 Dir(s)  58,071,121,920 bytes free

C:\sep>Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.3_Win64-bit_Client_EN.exe
The system cannot execute the specified program.

How to fix this?

The above certainly can't run on our Win 2008 R2 x64 as
it complains it's not for this version of Windows.

I wear a lot of hats...

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Right click on the EXE and select Properties

Down at bottom of the window that pops up click on the 'Unblock' button

Click ok and try again

We're sure there's no 'Unblock' button/option : my Wintel support
colleague is pretty well aware of this.

Is that the only file that's needed for this installation or there's
something else?

Anyone has this file: can check if the file size is correct?  Just to
be sure I don't get a corrupt file

Hi,
May I suggest you to create new package from SEPM and make sure you dont select NTP component. Please let me know how it goes.

Looks like there's a problem with the thumb drive that's use to
transfer the exe file.  Redownloaded & it's Ok now.

Btw where can public download the latest signatures of
Symantec Endpoint Protection for this version?  Pls provide
the exact full link / url

sunhuxAuthor Commented:
Any files copied to that thumb drive will show the right size of
the files (ie source size = destination size) but when opening
the file (esp text file), it contains lots of empty lines with spaces

Definitions for all versions

As for the thumb drive maybe its faulty...use a different one as a test please

Just one last question: is this Sym Endpt Protectn a paper
licence or the executable that we downloaded will prompt
for licence after 30 days ?

is this Sym Endpt Protectn a paper licence or the executable that we downloaded will prompt
for licence after 30 days ? if it is downloaded from subscription-based login to Symantec, it is covered by the paper licence for your site with the max number of nodes allowed. Server 2012 is counted as one node.
