WAMP & virtual hosts - homepage "Your Projects" link has localhost/sitename link

I've set up WAMP 2.4 on my PC. Set up virtual hosts which works well but the link under Your Projects on the homepage is http://localhost/borderschiropractic.dev/

I know it's a minor issue but I'd really like this to show as just the site name so the link works. ie: borderschiropractic.dev/

My http-vhosts.conf has the following:

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerAdmin localhost.admin
    DocumentRoot "E:\wamp\www"
    ServerName localhost

<VirtualHost *:80>
DocumentRoot "E:\wamp\www\borderschiropractic.dev"
ServerName borderschiropractic.dev

Have I messed up the setup?

No but you did put it under 'localhost'.  To use "borderschiropractic.dev", you have to do more than make a vhost for it.  You also have to put the name and IP in at least your 'hosts' file for it to be found by name.  Even doing that though is not going to make it available from any other computer unless you add it to the 'hosts' file one each of those computers.  And if you want it to have it's own IP address, you also have to add that to the TCP/IP setup for your network card.

Hi Dave,

I've made all the other changes (hosts file and httpd.conf) so the virtual site is working fine and I can browse the site at http://borderschiropractic.dev but it's the link to that virtual site on the WAMP homepage that is still prepending localhost to the url.

And you can only change that by changing the code for the WAMP homepage.  WAMP lists all the directiories in "E:\wamp\www" as Projects under localhost.  It should be perfectly valid and not worth worrying about.

Ok thanks David. I'll see about editing the code.

I was just hoping that the links would be correct as I'm planning to stop developing sites as subdomains under my domain and hammering my bandwidth and start developing locally on my machine instead.
Dave BaldwinFixer of ProblemsCommented:
I would not edit the WAMP code.  It is basically an Admin panel for your installation.  The links there have No effect on the other things you are doing and developing.  You can make a project link page with the links you want to use that has the 'correct' links without messing with the WAMP admin.

Are you paying for bandwidth usage?

Good idea, I'll do that.

"Are you paying for bandwidth usage?"

Yup. My reseller package is at the tight end of stuffed to the gunnels and i'm trying to hold off upgrading (a VPS is the next logical step) for as long as possible
