XPMODE, how to set it up with a FIXED disk. I had google this and found no answer

I have researched this for days. Everyone knows the theory of getting a fixed disk for an XPMODE pc but no one knows how to really do it. I get the information on how the XPMODE disk is differencing and expanding but not told how to set up an INITIAL XPMODE pc with a FIXED disk to begin with. My xpmode machines are growing in size. What am I missing? I look on many tech blogs and everyone repeats the Microsoft mantra of how the fixed disk should work in theory but no exact steps on how to do it. I guess the question is can I convert my current differencing xpmode machine to a FIXED hard disk. I have compacted the big xpmode machines and sometimes I get unrecoverable errors...do not get it.
Thanks :)

The simple answer is that you can't.  You get what you get for the price that you paid for it (zero).  Either backup frequently or install a separately licensed version of Windows XP in Virtual PC
