Unable to start SQL Server Agent
Hello Experts,
We are trying to create a maintenance plan on a server 2008 R2 SQL Instance on a windows 7 x 64bit system.
However, we do not see the option of SQl Server Agent in the MGMT Studio to create a new maintenance plan.
I am unable to start the service for this item. When i try to start the service in the Configuration manager i get "The request failed or the service did not respond in timely fashion."
In the event log we get this "Description:
SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: This installation of SQL Server Agent is disabled. The edition of SQL Server that installed this service does not support SQL Server Agent.)."
Any suggestions?

The Mgt Studio is Server 2008 R2 and the SQL is Server 2008, meaning in the folders list i do not see any that say SQL Express.
How can i confirm the exact SQL version that i am using so that there are no doubts.
Also, if this is so, is there any other kind of scheduled backups we can make for the SQL form the Mgt Studio
